Starting off things with Veneer!
Mikaela (Veneer) is a house, boogie, and funk DJ and producer based in Austin, Texas from the Rio Grande Valley. She melds her love of 90s and 2000s old-school house and street-soul with new-school left turns and a love of the obscure sounds of danceable music from Mexico, Singapore, Venezuela, and beyond. Mikaela is an uncompromising lover of sound and believes in the audience’s ability to follow her on a sonic journey.
She is a versatile DJ that is as comfortable curating a vibe for a lounge as she is for an after-hours club. She was a Future Front TX DJ in Residence, and will present an original composition at MIRAA festival in 2024. She is on rotation for London-based radio Chunt.fm. She is also queer and disabled and is an advocate for inclusivity within dance and club spaces — she is a frequent collaborator of lezbeintouch, who is creating new frontiers for LGBTQ parties and mischief in Austin.
Mikaela has played at The Line Hotel, The Austin Contemporary Museum, Cheer Up Charlies, Sahara Lounge, Kinda Tropical, on KUT Radio and more.
DJ Shani is COMMITTED to making sure her sisters and brother who are also mobility impaired can come to the boogie! All are welcome!
